Privacy Policy — Vacuole

The short version

        We collect only what we need to run Vacuole. We never sell your data. You can delete your account and all your data at any time.
      

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use Vacuole:

We do not collect your browsing history, track which sites you visit, or read any page content beyond what you explicitly save.

To send price reminder emails for items you visited but haven't purchased — we'll remind you after 1 day via email (you can unsubscribe at any time)
To respond to support requests
To maintain the security and integrity of the service

We never sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Supabase, a managed PostgreSQL database hosted on AWS infrastructure. Supabase provides:

Encryption at rest (AES-256)
Encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
Row-level security so only you can access your data

Your password is never stored in plain text. Authentication tokens are stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local.

4. Amazon Affiliate Disclosure

Affiliate Disclosure

Vacuole is a participant in the Amazon Associates Programme. When you save an Amazon product, the saved URL may include our affiliate tag (vacuole-21).

If you purchase a product through an Amazon link saved in Vacuole, we may earn a small commission from Amazon. This does not affect the price you pay — Amazon products are priced the same regardless of how you arrive at the page.

This commission helps fund the development and maintenance of Vacuole.

5. Cookies & Local Storage

The Vacuole Chrome extension uses chrome.storage.local to store your session token locally on your device. This is not a browser cookie and is not accessible to websites you visit.

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics on the extension or this website.

6. Sharing Your Data

We do not share your personal data with third parties except in these limited cases:

Supabase — our database infrastructure provider, who processes data on our behalf
Legal requirements — if required by law, court order, or government authority

Shared wishlists display only the items and collection names you choose to share — never your email address.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access — view all the data we hold about you
Export — download your wishlist as a PDF or spreadsheet
Delete — delete your account and all associated data at any time from the extension settings. Data is removed from our systems within 30 days.
Opt out of emails — unsubscribe from price reminder emails at any time

8. Children's Privacy

Vacuole is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date when we do. For significant changes, we'll notify you by email. Continued use of Vacuole after changes means you accept the updated policy.
